Location: Scott Family Amazeum, 1009 Museum Way Bentonville, AR 72712

Fee: $40 per person

This workshop is designed for K-6 educators.

STEAM and Making have obvious connections in math, science, and technology classrooms, but I don't teach any of those!" We are all teachers of reading (or should be). We read stories aloud to our students and engage with text everyday. This workshop takes an innovative approach to literacy instruction by connecting STEAM and Making practices to relevant children's literature, poetry, and other texts. Lesson plans and suggested book lists are shared in this session.

This workshop is created and facilitated by author Jacie Maslyk, EdD, based on her book Remaking Literacy. Jacie has spent 28 years in education as a teacher, principal, assistant superintendent, and literacy consultant with an emphasis on integrating hands-on learning. She is excited to share her work with educators in Northwest Arkansas through a 3.5 hour hands-on workshop.

This workshop includes:

  • Take home materials and resources
  • A copy of Remaking Literacy
  • 3.5 hours of ADE credit
  • Expert facilitation and interaction with Jacie Maslyk
  • Hosted by the Scott Family Amazeum
